Ginger Jeans Workshop with Heather Lou of Closet Case Patterns

10:30am - 6pm on both Saturday September 30th and Sunday October 1st, London Fields, London.

 

PROJECT

In this Jeans masterclass you will sew a pair of custom-fit jeans in a two day intensive class, with a focus on fit and professional looking construction. Heather Lou, owner of Closet Case Patterns, will be visiting from Canada and leading the class. 

 

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR? 

This workshop is geared towards the intermediate or confident beginner sewist who is excited to make jeans, but needs a little encouraging hand holding and fitting advice. You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and sewing patterns.

 

WHERE?

The workshop will take place in our canal-side office by London Fields, London, we will send you a map and address close to the workshop date. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields overground station or 20 minutes from Liverpool Street station

SUPPLIES

STUDENTS TO BRING

2-3 metres of stretch denim with at least 2% lycra. Must be pre-washed and pressed (should bring extra in case we need to make fit adjustments to pattern)
0.5 metre fusible interfacing
1/2 metre cotton lining
1 spool of topstitching thread
1 spool of regular polyester thread (ie. Mettler or Gutermann)
You are free to bring your own sewing machine or you can use one of the Janome machines we have in our studio
In order to make the most out of the time spent in the workshop you'll want to come to class on Saturday with your pattern pieces cut and basted. Need help? We'll be on hand in our studio in the evenings the week before the workshop. Just contact us after booking to arrange a drop-in!

WE WILL SUPPLY

Jeans zippers
Jeans rivets and buttons
all of the tools needed to make and finish your jeans professionally
light refreshments and drinks throughout both days
There will be a one hour lunch break during both days, you can bring along lunch to eat in the studio or we can give you some recommendations nearby. We are 1 minute's walk from Broadway Market which is packed with amazing places to eat and a food market on Saturdays. 
 

TEACHER BIO

Heather Lou is a pattern designer, blogger, and sewing educator for the modern maker. As the force behind Closet Case Patterns, she has been writing about sewing for over six years, and has taught thousands of people to sew, both online and in her sold-out sewing workshops across North America. Her work has been featured in Threads, Sew News, Seamwork, Love Sewing and Sewing World magazine.
