Regular price

DATE, TIME AND LOCATION

Sunday 14th October, 11am - 5pm

Arch 359 Westgate Street, London, E8 3RN

The workshop will take place in our shop in between Broadway Market and Mare Street. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath overground stations.

PROJECT:

Get your A/W wardrobe sorted with our Winter Wardrobe Basics weekend! In this second part of the weekend you'll learn to sew the perfect sweater, ideal for wearing with skirts and jeans or layering over tees and dresses. We'll be using the Sloane Sweatshirt by Named Clothing which has a loose-fitting shape with long bust darts, a high hip length and ribbed cuffs, neckline and hem. We love this pattern as it doesn't have raglan sleeves like a lot of the other sweatshirt patterns out there. Come to Part 1 of our Winter Wardrobe Basics on the Saturday to learn how to make a turtleneck, or book both parts here with a special bundle discount.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

+ Tips and tricks for sewing with stretch fabrics, including cutting, marking and sewing
+ How to sew stretch fabrics using a regular sewing machine
+ How to sew stretch fabrics using an overlocker
+ How to create a professional finish on seams using a twin needle
+ How to sew ribbed cuffs, waistbands and necklines

CLASS INCLUDES:

+ Sloane Sweatshirt pattern by Named Clothing
Use of all tools including our Pfaff Quilt Ambition 2.0 sewing machines and Overlockers. If you'd prefer to bring your own machine then that is absolutely fine.
+ Drinks and snacks throughout the day
+ Clear elastic

STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING:

+ Fabric: 125 – 195 cm / 1½ – 2¼ yd of sweatshirt jersey or similar medium-weight knit
+ Rib knit: 20-25cm
+ Exact fabric requirements for different sizes can be found here.
+ Cotton thread

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This class is suitable for beginners. You must have experience with using a sewing machine and a pattern. You do not have to have experience with sewing with stretch fabrics - this is a great project to jump right in with!
