Learn How To Recreate Your Favourite Garment

The workshop will take place in our shop in between Broadway Market and Mare Street. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath overground stations. We're also connected by numerous bus routes!

PROJECT:

If you have a favourite garment that you love the fit of and wish that you could recreate it yourself then this is the class for you! On this course you will learn how to copy a garment without unpicking or taking it apart. After learning 2 different methods, students should expect to go home with a finished pattern of their garment.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

Basic pattern terminology & introduction to using tools
How to copy the shape of pattern pieces used in a garment.
+ How to add seams and notches to the pattern
Basic seam allowances needed for different finishings

CLASS INCLUDES: 

+ Dot and cross paper
Pattern cutting tools (pattern master, notcher, pattern drill and tracing wheel, tape measure etc) Please feel free to bring your own tools if you already have some
Toiling supplies (calico, pins, threads etc)
+ Drinks and snacks throughout the day.

STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING:

A garment that they would like to copy. Please be aware that this is only a one day course so garments should be selected with appropriate complexity.
+ A notebook and pen to take notes
+ A camera / phone to take process pictures (optional, but helpful!)

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This class is for experienced sewers that are familiar with using patterns, no prior knowledge of pattern cutting is needed.

TEACHER BIO

Kathryn is an experienced pattern cutter currently working in the industry. After starting at Karen Millen her CV has grown to include London Fashion week brands such as Peter Pilotto and Emilia Wickstead as well as power house brand Topshop. She discovered a love of pattern cutting while studying fashion design at university and hasn't looked back since. After graduating she threw herself headlong into the industry and quickly rose up the ranks. After 7 years of hard grafting she is now keen to share what she has learnt with others and to see her love of pattern cutting spread!
