This ex-designer trim is a grosgrain ribbon. Both sides have a ribbed weave that runs width-ways across the ribbon, with a slight sheen finish. Mokuba is a Japanese supplier, and a top-quality trim. It has a soft drape so would be perfect as straps for a dress or even to wrap presents!
