This ex-designer lace comes from Forster Rohner, one of the oldest manufactures of lace. It is a guipure or 'bobinnet' lace. Embroidered motifs are connected with thin plaits of yarn rather than the whole fabric being backed in a mesh. This is a more delicate and labour intensive process than making standard lace and is still done on the original machines. The design features large daisy-like flowers linked with the characteristic plaits. The edge is finished and follows the outline of the design. Heavier than a normal lace, but still with a great drape and a beautiful satin finish.  This lace is super luxurious and would make a stunning dress!
