The class will take place in our shop just around the corner from Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 10 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath overground stations.  


CLASS OVERVIEW

In this intensive day class you will take a deep dive into hand sewing couture techniques, the perfect way to level-up your sewing skills and learn how to hand finish your makes for that extra fancy touch. During the class you will sample a variety of couture stitches and techniques that you'll be able to use in your future makes, as well as learning how to properly wax thread and use a thimble. 


WHAT WILL THIS CLASS COVER?

+ How to sew a cross stitch hem

+ How to use a fell stitch for lining

+ How to pad stitch

+ What is canvassing and how is it used in garment making

+ How to hand sew buttonholes, and sewing a button using a shank

+ How to use thread loops for hooks, buttons and belt loops

This is a practical class and you will create a selection of samples during the session.


WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This class is suitable for confident beginner sewists but we particularly recommend it for intermediate and advanced sewists who want to learn more specialist techniques.

 

CLASS INCLUDES:

+ Use of our Pfaff Ambition 630 sewing machines in the classes. If you'd like to learn on your own machine then please do bring it along - please let us know the model in advance and bring your manual with you.

+ All tools and equipment

+ Instructions to take home with you

+ Drinks and sweet treats to keep you going throughout the class.

 

TEACHER BIO:

Dive into the world of Couture and Bespoke Tailoring with Eleanor McDonald.  Eleanor’s practice has always been grounded in tailoring, she produced seasonal collections that where shown in Paris and Milan before moving towards a Bespoke and made-to-order model. Trained at Central Saint Martins, she has worked on the BA Bespoke Tailoring course at London College of Fashion and is now joint Year 1 Lead on BA Womenswear, also at London College of Fashion.
