PROJECT

Start your bra making journey here! Sewing your own bra can seem intimidating. We’re here to change that! In this class we will focus on learning how to fit and sew a bra for your body. We will be taking a deep dive into bra sizing, material functionality, fitting and pattern modifications. You will learn tips and tricks for sewing a clean, finished bra that looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside. You will leave Bra Camp with new skills, knowledge, and bosom friends!

WHAT WILL THIS COURSE COVER?

+ Bra fitting and making workshop (2-day workshop)
+ Bra making kit with lace and all required findings and elastics
+ 1 spool of matching thread
+ Discounts from sponsors
+ List of bra making vendors and resources
+ Booklet of diagrams for basic bra fitting modifications

Day One (10am - 6pm)

The first day of Bra Camp focuses on fitting the bra. We will go over the importance of finding the right size and shape underwires as well as a thorough look into bra sizes and the materials needed to create an underwire bra.

We then begin the individual fitting process. Bella will provide sample cup toiles in all sizes that you will try on to find your correct size as well as four different shaped underwires in all sizes to determine your underwire shape and size. Once both your cup size and underwire is determined you will sew a toile of the band to practice sewing techniques and to make sure the band fits properly.

Everyone will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one fitting with Bella. Together you will assess the fit and make the necessary modifications to your paper pattern. A fitting does require a certain amount of personal exposure, but they are completely private and done with the utmost care and respect. You may also assess the fit on your own. Whatever makes you feel comfortable! The day will end with a demonstration on how to modify your paper pattern to your specific needs.

Day Two (10am - 6pm)
Day two begins with a demonstration on how cut out the bra so that the lace is mirrored on both cups. The day is mainly is dedicated to sewing the final bra. Bella will teach you construction methods for achieving beautifully finished bra that looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside!

This class is for intermediate to advanced sewists. You should know how to use a sewing machine and feel confident in handling small, slippery pieces of fabric. It’s helpful if you understand a bit about pattern modification, but you will be shown step-by-step how to modify your paper pattern.

CLASS INCLUDES:

+ Use of our Pfaff Ambition 635 sewing machines and Pfaff Admire 1000 overlockers in the classes. If you'd like to learn on your own machine then please do bring it along - please let us know the model in advance and bring your manual with you.

+ All tools and equipment

+ Drinks and sweet treats to keep you going throughout the class.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:

+ There will be time during the weekend where fittings are being held so you might want to bring along another sewing project to work on while they are taking place.
